A park constructed at the site of the former Negishi Racetrack where the first western-style horse race in Japan was held in 1867. The racetrack was closed in 1942 and was used as a golf course for US troops after World War II. It was partially returned to Japan in 1969 and reopened as a park in 1977. The vast grounds include a green field, a hill with cherry blossoms and a plum grove providing a perfect place for strolling and jogging. Remains of the first-class spectator seats are the only reminder of the old racetrack days.
