1Sail Training Ship Nippon Maru Yokohama Port Museum

The museum is themed on the history of the Yokohama port and its relationship to people's daily lives. The exhibits demonstrate the 150 years of history of the port since its opening as well as its functions and efforts. The Nihonmaru was launched in 1930 and continued its role as a navigation training ship until 1984. It is now anchored and preserved here.

2NYK Maritime Museum

This museum presents the history of how ships transferring people, goods, and culture have opened up the sea route from Japan to overseas since the Meiji period. Inside the artistic building which has been used as the Yokohama branch of a shipping company, Nippon Yusen Kaisya (NYK Line), visitors can enjoy videos and a display of a large scale model of a luxury liner of the 1920's. Free tea service is provided in the resting area.

3Yokohama Archives of History

Displays materials on Yokohama history from the end of the Edo period/Opening up of the port period to the beginning of the Showa period. The building was formerly used as the British consulate until 1972. There is a historical camphor tree in the courtyard. *Includes a cafe.

4NYK Hikawamaru

Hikawamaru is a cargo and passenger ship constructed in 1930. During World War II, it was used as a government impress ship and a special hospital ship for the navy. It resumed its original role as a cargo and passenger ship in 1947 and returned to the Seattle Water Route in 1953. It retired in 1960. Visitors can tour the Art Deco-style dining room, the special guest rooms and other rooms were renovated based on the resources of the prewar days when the ship navigated on the Seattle Water Route. The stormy history of Hikawamaru is also displayed.
