Yokohama Doll Museum Special Exhibition "The World of Doll House"
"Noah's Ark" (presumed made in Germany, middle of 19th century), "Russian Firm", "Market" (made in Russia, late of 20th century), "Mizuya Dogu (Kitchen)"(made in Japan, 1968 to 1926) and about 40 other precious doll houses will be exhibited.
We will introduce you to the profound world of small houses in the first doll houses exhibition in 6 years.
◆Doll Houses in Foreign Countries
About 20 doll houses, such as whole houses, kitchen and butchers, made in Germany or the United States will be exhibited.
◆Japanese Miniatures
Japanese miniatures made in Taisho and Showa Era such as miniature kitchen called "Mizuya Dogu", toy shop called small stand, and miniature shops. As housewares not in use nowadays are included, you can see lifestyles in those days.

Sankeien Garden Early Morning Lotus Viewing
Lotus flowers begin to slowly open at sunrise and are best viewed fully around 7 a.m. From around 9 a.m., the flowers begin to close and are fully shut by noon. Since the beautiful, pure lotus flower grows up out of the mud, it is often used to symbolize someone outstanding who has blossomed out of the secular world. In India, the lotus flower is the flower of saints, while in China it is the gentleman's flower. During lotus blossom season, Sankeien Garden opens at 6 a.m. to allow you to view the beauty of the opening blossoms in the refreshing morning air. Visitors can also try their hand at making lotus threads from lotus stalks and masks from lotus leaves.

The accident at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant which was caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011 triggered controversy over nuclear power plants and new energy throughout Japan. This exhibit will showcase 68 works based on the theme of "Nuclear Power Plant and New Energy" by 34 illustrators which their works are published on newspapers and other media.
