Yokohama China Town -Chinese Spring Festival2012-

Spring Festival is a Chinese Lunar New Year. January 23 is the Spring Festival in 2012. To celebrate the Spring Festival, Yokohama China Town will hold Spring Festival event.
You will hear the burst of fire crackers, cymbals, drums, and Chinese gongs along with Chinese lions and dragons will dance in the festive China Town. Songs, dances, and Chinese traditional performances will be held to celebrate this event.
Y152 Memorial Spring Festival Nocturnal Flower Illumination and lanterns will light up the China Town even brighter. Please come and enjoy the festive China Town!

[Main Events]
◆Cǎi Qīng Lion Dance January 23 (Mon.), 16:00 to 20:00
Lion will pray for the prosperity and good harvest and dance around and bite on envelopes containing congratulatory gifts of money hanged in front the stores.
The name comes from the old envelopes which were folded in Qīngcài, or vegetables, that were lions favorite.

◆Spring Festival Traditional Performance
January 29 (Sun.) from 11:00 and January 28 (Sat.), February 4 (Sat.), and February 5 (Sun.), from 11:00/ from 14:00
Lion dance, dragon dance, dance performance, songs, harp performance, acrobatics, and other traditional Chinese cultures will be performed to capture the eyes of the visitors with their flamboyant performances.

◆Celebration Parade January 20 (Sun.), from 14:00
Extravagant parade to celebrate the New Year's with costumes of the Emperor, ethnic clothing, lion dance, and dragon dance.

◆Lantern Festival February 6 (Mon.), from 17:30
A solemn event in which lanterns with messages of wishes and dreams are dedicated and send peace to the heavens on the last day of the Chinese New Year.
