YOKOHAMA CONVENTION & VISITORS BUREAU

The following kinds of support are available from the Yokohama Convention & Visitors Bureau for conventions held in Yokohama.

The City of Yokohama offers subsidies of up to ¥10 million for international conventions that meet the following conditions*.
1. More than 1,000 attendees in total
2. More than 300 attendees from overseas
3. Overseas delegates from at least five nations
4. Duration of at least three days

* Conditions subject to change
Applicants for subsidies for large international conventions must submit their applications before finalizing the selection of their convention venues. Successful applicants will receive the subsidy payments after their conventions close.

Extensive support is available through the Yokohama Convention & Visitors Bureau’s Reward program for meetings, conventions, and exhibitions. Contact the bureau for details about the kinds of support that are available and about the conditions that pertain.

• Charter-bus service to and from airport
• Entertainment, such as traditional music, Japanese drumming and festival dancing
• Cultural activities, such as tea ceremony, flower arranging, and origami
• Full-day sight-seeing tours in and around Yokohama

1. Help prepare proposal kits and presentation materials
2. Dispatch personnel overseas to assist with maximizing attendance
3. Coordinate inspections of the prospective sites and pay part of the related fees
4. Welcome VIPs at Narita and Haneda airports

Organizers can also obtain assistance from the Yokohama Convention & Visitors Bureau in connection with coordinating sponsorships, developing platforms for sponsors to use, and deploying advertisements and other promotional messages through diverse media. The bureau’s promotional support for meetings, conventions, and exhibitions can include providing links on the bureau’s website, distributing flyers through city information centers, and notifying local media about the event.

The Yokohama Convention & Visitors Bureau provides welcoming messages from the mayor for meetings, conventions, and exhibitions. It can also provide welcoming messages and related expressions of support for future events

Organizers can obtain introductions to local suppliers of meeting and exhibition space, lodging, travel services, onsite operational support, and other assistance.

The Yokohama Convention & Visitors Bureau provides organizers with digital photographic data and other items useful for producing event materials and with maps, discount coupons, and other items useful for attendees.

Yokohama goodwill ambassadors welcome delegates at the airports and at receptions and ceremonies.

The Yokohama Convention & Visitors Bureau can mobilize convention citizen volunteers to staff information desks, to assist with tours, and to conduct cultural programs
